The Trust supports talented young students, scholars and musicians through the provision of accommodation at its London houses and small grants.
Visitors’ Programme
Each year approximately 20 young men and women are accommodated for a period of one month each, in the Trust’s two London houses, in the historic districts of Highgate and Kensington respectively. Information about our 2025 visitors is here.
Our visitors are often specialists in subjects in which the Founder, Dr Anderson was actively involved, particularly musicology, archaeology, classical history and Egyptology. Many come from countries with which Dr Anderson had particular connections, including Egypt and other countries of the Middle East, Greece, Turkey, Russia, Poland, Serbia, and Ukraine. We encourage applications from specialists in all subjects, however, and from anywhere in the world.
Further information about the application process for future visits is available here.
Longer-Term Placements
The Trust also provides accommodation on a longer terms basis to a Resident Musician and a Resident Humanities Scholar for the duration of a postgraduate degree or diploma, and to a Resident Egyptologist/Archaeologist for a period of six months of research.
Musical Scholarships
The Trust supports the studies of a student violist through the ‘Jean Middlemiss Award‘, and a pianist through the ‘Award in Memory of Ilona Eibenschütz‘. In both cases the award holders are students of the Royal College of Music.
Small Grants
In 2025 the Trust established the ‘Hawkins Special Fund’ to support students, and early-career researchers and musicians through the provision of small grants, typically be in the region of £500 – £1,000.
